How to Split a Restaurant Bill Fairly
When everyone ate roughly the same, splitting equally is quickest — enter the subtotal, add GST and any service charge or tip, and divide the grand total by the number of people. Nobody has to do mental math and it's over in seconds.
When orders were uneven — one person had a starter, main and dessert while another just had a coffee — an equal split isn't fair.
