Getting Started

Yes, always. There are no transaction limits, no ads, and no premium tier for core features. FairShare is built to be free forever — splitting bills shouldn't cost money.
Not immediately. You have two options: share an invite link so they join via the web app, or use Guest Mode to add them as a named placeholder right now — no app or sign-up required. Any expenses assigned to them are tracked instantly, and when they eventually sign up with the same email, their full history is automatically waiting for them.
Yes! The web app is available at fairshareapp.co.in/app and has the same core features as the mobile app — create groups, add expenses, settle up, and track balances, all in your browser.
Export your Splitwise data as a CSV file (Settings → Export Data in Splitwise), then use the Import feature inside FairShare's Settings. Your groups, members, and expense history will be brought over automatically.
FairShare is available on Android (Google Play), iOS (App Store), and as a Web App in your browser.

Guest Mode

Guest Mode lets you add someone to a FairShare group without them needing the app. You enter their name (and optionally their email); they appear in all balance calculations immediately with a "Guest" badge. When they eventually sign up using that same email, their entire expense history — every group, every expense, every balance — is automatically transferred to their account. Learn more →
No. Guests are added by name and optional email by any group member. No installation, no sign-up, no action required from them. They're included in splits and balances from the moment they're added.
Yes — guests work exactly like registered members for expense assignment. You can assign them to equal splits, custom amount splits, percentage splits, and item-by-item splits from AI receipt scanning. Their share shows up in the group's balance summary.
FairShare detects the matching email at first login and automatically migrates everything — every group they were added to, every expense assigned to them, all outstanding balances. The guest placeholder is removed and replaced with their real account. They see a confirmation notification: "You've been added to X groups — all set!"
While a guest placeholder exists, another group member can manually mark their debt as settled. Once the guest claims their account by signing up, they gain full access to FairShare's one-tap UPI settlement — GPay, PhonePe, Paytm, or BHIM.
Each group supports up to 5 guest placeholders alongside unlimited registered members.

Splitting & Bills

Snap a photo of any receipt. Google's Gemini AI reads every line item, price, tax, and tip — then lets you assign individual items to people in your group. No more manual entry for long restaurant bills. Learn more about AI scanning →
Absolutely. FairShare supports four split modes: equal split, by exact amount, by percentage, and item-by-item assignment. You have full control over how each expense is divided.
FairShare supports 18 currencies including INR (₹), USD ($), EUR (€), GBP (£), AUD, SGD, AED, and more — available in 67 countries. Perfect for international trips and multi-currency groups.
Yes. FairShare is offline-first — you can add expenses, update splits, and view balances without an internet connection. Everything syncs automatically when you reconnect.
Recurring expenses let you set any expense (rent, streaming subscriptions, internet bills) to auto-add on a schedule — daily, weekly, monthly, or yearly. Set it once and FairShare handles the rest.

Payments & Settlement

Tap "Settle Up" inside any group to see who owes whom. In India, tap "Pay via UPI" to open your preferred UPI app (GPay, PhonePe, Paytm, etc.) with the exact amount pre-filled — no manual entry needed.
Debt simplification reduces the total number of transactions needed to settle a group. For example, in a group of 6 people, FairShare might reduce 10 individual debts down to just 4 payments — saving everyone time and effort.
No. FairShare is a tracker, not a payment processor. We never handle your money. UPI deep-links open your existing UPI app (GPay, PhonePe, etc.) with amounts pre-filled — the actual payment happens in that app.
Open the group → go to Balances → tap the debt entry → select "Send Reminder". The other person will receive a push notification with the amount owed. No awkward texts required.

Account & Privacy

Yes. All data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest (Firebase). FairShare never stores UPI IDs or VPAs on our servers — your payment details stay on your device only. Read our Privacy Policy →
Go to Settings → Account → Delete Account. All your data — groups, expenses, balances — is permanently and irreversibly removed. You can also visit fairshareapp.co.in/delete_account.html for step-by-step instructions.
Currently, Google Sign-In is the primary authentication method. Email/password login is on our roadmap. Using Google Sign-In keeps your account secure with no separate password to manage.
